European Heritage Days - Meillerie Priory

Perched on the hills above the village, the priory has overlooked Meillerie for 800 years! Come explore at your leisure its ancient defense tower, its church, and its living quarters, which once housed the canons regular of the Congregation of the Great St. Bernard.

In the heart of the 13th-century priory, a historic room restored by a handful of enthusiasts—known as the “Logis du Prieuré”—houses various archives on this historic monument, the village’s history, its quarries, its boats, and the famous writers who have described the village’s unique characteristics.
