Description

Come join us for a conference on the Tonkin Line.

The Tonkin Line, or Southern Lake Geneva Line (the St-Gingolph–Bouveret–Monthey–St-Maurice line and the section of the Longeray–Léaz line to Bouveret), is a railroad line connecting Saint-Maurice to Geneva (Switzerland), via Évian-les-Bains, Thonon-les-Bains, and Annemasse (France).

The line is in operation in the Valais Chablais region, as well as between Évian-les-Bains and Geneva, but the section connecting Saint-Gingolph to Évian-les-Bains, which is 17.8 kilometers long and runs along the southeastern shore of Lake Geneva in the Savoyard Chablais region, has not been in operation since 1998. Currently, several organizations are campaigning for its reopening.
