Description

The CGN invites you to a getaway on Lake Geneva. Embark on one of the Belle Epoque boats, or on one of the more modern ones, to discover the beautiful lake region from a different vantage point.

Set off on an unforgettable cruise to discover the most beautiful landscapes of Lake Geneva. With spectacular panoramic views, picturesque villages, terraced vineyards and majestic castles, let yourself be enchanted by the natural and cultural treasures of the Lake Geneva region. Whether for a few hours or a whole day, enjoy a getaway on the water aboard boats that combine charm, comfort and authenticity.

Founded in 1873, the Compagnie générale de navigation sur le lac Léman (CGN) is now the largest shipping company in French-speaking Switzerland and the second largest in Switzerland, with a fleet of 18 boats. A true institution in the Lake Geneva region, it has been upholding a tradition of navigation for over 150 years that forms an integral part of the lake’s history.
Among its vessels, eight Belle Époque paddle-wheel boats constitute an exceptional heritage, unique in the world. Listed as a historic monument of national importance since 17 June 2011, this iconic fleet bears witness to a heritage of expertise and a tradition of navigation preserved through the generations.

Setting off from the many jetties lining the Swiss and French shores, set out to discover must-see sites: the terraced vineyards of Lavaux, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the landscapes of the Riviera; the majestic Château de Chillon; the medieval town of Yvoire; the peaks of the Alps and Mont Blanc; and Geneva’s famous Jet d’Eau.

To make the most of this experience, why not treat yourself to a gourmet break on board? Enjoy a delicious meal whilst admiring the scenery as it passes by as the boat glides along, for a moment of relaxation and conviviality in an exceptional setting.

As well as offering sightseeing cruises, CGN also plays a vital role in transport across the Lake Geneva region. With its numerous daily services between Switzerland and France, it enables travellers to reach both shores of the lake in a way that is as convenient as it is enjoyable.
