This hike leads you to the Arvouin lake, a beautiful mountain lake in the Abondance valley. The path that leads to it offers nice views.
It is perfect for families. The lake being the objective of the walk!
Lac d'Arvouin is within easy walking distance of La Chapelle d'Abondance.
From Sevan, you'll head into the mountain pastures, reaching chalets a little higher up. Maybe you'll meet some Abondance cows!
Enjoy the panoramic view of Mont de Grange and the Dents du Midi.
The path then leads into the undergrowth, and the area opens up to offer splendid views. You'll then follow this path to Lac d'Arvouin, where you may spot goats below or ibex at the lake.
Situated in the heart of the protected Cornettes de Bise massif, Lac d'Arvouin and its surroundings are classified as a Natura 2000 area.
If you wish to extend this hike, you can reach the Col d'Arvouin on the right, or the tête de l'avalanche and Col du Serpentin on the left. A magnificent view of the lake and the south face of the Cornettes de Bise.
Return by the same route.
Departmental signposting called P.D.I.P.R. on beige panel and green writing.
0/ Departure point: Sevan parking lot, take the Route du Rys to get there by car.
1/ For access to the lake, you can take the footpath from the parking lot at the end of the tarmac road. The route joins up with the alpine chalets on the path.
The return journey takes the same route.
The wetland bordering the Lac d'Arvouin below the chalet is a sensitive and protected heritage area.
To avoid trampling and preserve this rich and fragile ecosystem (protected flora and breeding ground for aquatic fauna), please do not walk around Lac d'Arvouin and stay on the main track leading up to the chalet.
Our mountain lakes are fragile environments, and our actions have an impact on these ecosystems, so please don't swim in them (dogs included).
When you swim, you leave behind sunscreen, bacteria and organic particles that disturb the ecological balance.
