A snowshoe hike around the village and the resort to explore its heritage (cave, Stations of the Cross, alpine farms).
From the tourist office, follow the signs for “Lajoux”; after 400 meters, turn left onto “Chemin du Requart.” You can then put on your snowshoes at the end of the paved section.
Head toward “La Pierre des Auguets,” a cave on your left that houses the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Cross the county road and continue along the “Chemin de Croix,” which was inaugurated in 1892.
After the 14th station, head down to the left for a few meters, then take the path on the right.
After a flat stretch, take the uphill path through the woods; once you emerge from the woods, turn right (toward the resort).
Be careful not to miss this fork; otherwise, you’ll end up on an unmarked trail that can be dangerous in winter.
You’ll pass by an old building where stone enthusiasts can admire, among other things, the window frames, followed by a magnificent view of Lake Geneva, the Swiss shore, and the first houses of the hamlet of Lajoux.
Follow the long path through the woods, where you’ll likely come across wildlife tracks—maybe a “nutcracker” will even come out to greet you!
Then head to the center of the resort.
The snowshoe trail is marked with purple snowshoe markers.
