The Savoy of the Annexation" exhibition

The Savoy of the Annexation" exhibition image1

Description

In 1860, Savoy became French. One hundred and fifty years later, only a faint trace of this event remains in national historiography.
In the hearts of the Savoyard people, Savoie's attachment to France is still very much alive.

"Annexation" was the result of a slow process, which accelerated after the Plombières interview on July 21, 1858. The interplay of alliances, war and propaganda - both pro- and anti-annexation - enabled the countries of Savoy and Nice to be peacefully attached to France by a broad popular consensus.
