It's not always easy for a growing adult to find his place with a dual culture. Between returning to his roots and uprooting, Euphrate invents himself and moves forward. A one-man show as funny as it is moving.
The daughter of a Turkish father and a French mother, Euphrate is a high-school senior experiencing difficulties with the school system at a time when she is making career choices. This leads her to wonder what impact her dual culture has had on the construction of her identity. In a delightful, humorous dialogue with her father, she sets out to discover her Turkish roots and childhood memories. Euphrate explores, confronts and violates. She finds anchorage and support, makes places her own, discovers her father's Anatolia, meets a substantial ally in Afife Jale, Turkey's first Muslim actress. She, in turn, dared to approach the theater, exposing herself on stage, despite the prohibitions. Intertwining dance and words, Nil Bosca, as funny as she is movingly accurate, recounts, with the freedom of a joyful body, the long road to asserting her own voice as a woman. A deep desire for life.
