La Grande Odyssée makes a stopover in La Chapelle d'Abondance on January 12, 2026: an Alpine stage at the heart of an exceptional sporting and human adventure in the French Alps.
La Grande Odyssée is Europe's benchmark event for long-distance sled dog races in the Alps.
Every winter since 2005, it has brought together the best international mushers for an extraordinary adventure combining endurance, strategy and complicity with the dogs. Crossing grandiose and demanding landscapes, this race highlights the beauty of the French Alps and the values of nature sports.
On January 12, 2026, La Chapelle d'Abondance will host one of the key stages of this odyssey, offering spectators a rare moment of sporting spectacle, Nordic immersion and conviviality in the heart of the Chablais massif.
As part of La Grande Odyssée Royal Canin, a solidarity and educational highlight, organized with the support of Crédit Mutuel, will highlight sharing, inclusion and the discovery of mushing for the very young.
The Children's Odyssey with Crédit Mutuel will bring together 20 CM2 pupils from La Chapelle d'Abondance and Châtel schools.
Accompanied by 20 handlers, they will cover 2 km harnessed to 2 to 4 dogs, depending on their size.
