Description

The church of Neuvecelle is located in the parish of Saint-André en Gavot-Léman, in the diocese of Annecy. Dedicated to Saint Nicolas, the church was built within the walls of the Château de Neuvecelle, originally owned by the local lords.
Over the centuries, it was enlarged and rebuilt in the Sardinian neoclassical style, with a dome on a Latin cross plan. Mgr Rendu consecrated the church on July 4, 1847. The Romanesque bell tower on the south side dates from 1896. The Neuvecelle coat of arms, whose origins date back to the 12th century, can be seen at the bottom of the transept windows. The interior is adorned with statues of Saint Nicolas and Saint Didier. Today, after successful restoration in the late 20th century, it belongs to the parish of Saint-André-en-Gavot (Evian).
